[Max arrives at the skating rink first. She's already laced up her skates, and she's sitting on one of the benches, elbows resting on her knees as she watches some of the other skaters zoom around the rink.
She rubs absently at her temples, trying to get rid of the headache that had sprung forth a few hours before despite the aspirin she'd taken. She'd been up most of the night studying for a geometry test she's still convinced she's going to fail, and when she'd tried sleeping, she'd found herself staring blankly at the ceiling, wide awake.
There's a general feeling of discontent in her chest as she waits for Dustin to arrive and she considers moving from the bench to the arcade games in the corner. It's been awhile since she played. She's eying it when she spots him step into the building and she rises to her feet, skating over to him.]
[He's pretty sure the last time he actually went to the skating rink
was years ago for a kid he didn't even like's birthday party, with the rest
of the party, and they'd spent almost the entire time playing the arcade
games in the corner. They didn't get invited to that kid's party next year,
if he remembers right.
He thinks probably he remembers how to skate, though. Probably. He's got
alright balance, he should be fine. Or Max'll get to laugh at him, what
else is new.]
[She hasn't been to the rink for awhile. Skateboarding is still her preference but so far no one else in the party has really picked that up, so when she wants company and wants to feel like she's flying...skating it is.]
What, like I was going to say no? [He scoffed, grinning widely at her, possibly even more than usual cause she seemed a little less... well, he's not sure what to call it.]
[That's better. It only takes a couple minutes for him to get and put on a pair of skates and then he makes his way back over. He's not very steady, but he's not falling over, so he'll take it as a win.]
[Especially when it comes to anything with wheels. Bikes, skateboards, skates, cars. She's managed to get out of nearly every speeding ticket she's been pulled over. Helps to be best friends with the Chief's daughter, apparently.]
[She'll go a lot easier when they're skating together than she will when she finally lets go of him to skate on her own. She has a reputation to uphold and a name to live up to. They don't call her Mad Max for nothing.]
